Bill of Rights
Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
Photo journalism is privileged to bring to our eyes the beauty of creation and the horrific tragedies of culture, both past and present. In America we Americans have been granted that right based upon the Bill Of Rights.
What is not granted in the Constitution is the “right to know” albeit this is the assumption journalism postulates as a fundamental right. Even “we the people” believe falsely we have the same rights. We are granted certain “rights” in civil and criminal law. But a universal “right to know” is not granted from the United States Constitution.
Herein is the toxic friction between authority and who is granted or who has authority. Like the modern idiom about the Golden Rule; “He who has the gold makes the rules”.
This humorous story gives legs to this idiom.
A crusty old man walks into the local church and says to the secretary, “I would like to join this damn church.” The astonished woman replies, “I beg your pardon, sir. I must have misunderstood you. What did you say?” “Listen up, damn it. I said I want to join this damn church!” “I’m very sorry sir, but that kind of language is not tolerated in this church.”
The secretary leaves her desk and goes into the pastor’s study to inform him of her situation. The pastor agrees that the secretary does not have to listen to that foul language. They both return to her office and the pastor asks the old geezer, “Sir, what seems to be the problem here?”“There is no damn problem,” the man says. “I just won $200 Million bucks in the damn lottery and I want to join this damn church to get rid of some of this damn money. ” “I see,” said the pastor. “And is this damm secretary giving you a hard time?”
This photo tells a powerful story what is being done to children in Dafur all in the name of “FREEDOM”.
If I lived in China and wanted to post this blog I would not be allowed too.
You see, China has invested tons of “golden rules” in Darfur. China is Sudan’s chief diplomatic protector and one of its biggest trade partners.
NBC unreality show of China have their “golden rules” too.
I am not here to assign guilt, but I am here, as this is the last week of the Olympics, remember to remember.
A picture is worth a thousand delusions.
Sad to say, if I had the gold, I would make the rules too; just keeping it honest
