Romans 14:17 (Contemporary English Version)
Contemporary English Version (CEV)
17God’s kingdom isn’t about eating and drinking. It is about pleasing God, about living in peace, and about true happiness. All this comes from the Holy Spirit.
Years ago when our children were young we would go on camping trips to a lake about 70 miles from our home. I had a LL BEAN tent, all Nylon with an 8 foot ceiling, with a dry floor. The tent in its day was a “state of the Art” tent. Eureka was the tent company who made this with LL Beans name on it.
I started buying from LL Bean in the 1960’s. Bean has a buying (warranty) matrix that in says something like, “if it breaks we fix or replace it for free.” I put LL Bean to the test about 14 years ago, when the zippers came loose and broke. Sure enough, they fixed it and not charge except for the shipping charges. Way to go Bean.
About this Kenny’s Campers thing. I became so popular and “good” at camping and cooking, friends would go to our camp site, and I would cook “Kentucky gourmet cooking” Kenny’s style, my first name.
I would invent cooking “stuff”. However my staple were home made mashed potatoes made with half/half cream, real butter, and a turnip for flavor. Add to this fresh chicken, deep friend in an iron skillet, with “Kenny’s spice’s”, batter of beer with flour, fried until golden brown. I would top this off with home grown tomatoes, German pinks if available or better boys. Add some nice home made dressing of spice, oil, vinegar and sugar. Hummmm, so good you want to “slap your momma” (colloquialism).
Many fond memories were developed and stored. I wish I had captured some of these memories on film as I do today with our grandchildren in the digital world.
May I suggest to you mom and dad’s, capture as many moments in time of family gatherings. You will not regret your past.
Today, I spend a lot of time and work capturing moments of video and photography (Nikon D300) of my family and friends. At times its a hassle, like traveling to Chicago to see our grand kids, riding on the “Chicago loop” trains to Damen & Division street lugging along way to much “stuff”. I drop it, get tangled in straps, trip over my luggage, get angry looks from the Chicago’s natives. I tell them, ” I am just a fat man trying to get to heaven”.
With affection,

That is one artery clogging sandwich.
